A new year has begun for Comanche High School, bringing new faces to the staff. One of those new faces is Coach Tyler Elliott. This is Coach Elliot’s first year as a teacher.

What was your first impression upon arriving to CHS?

“The school is small compared to the high school I graduated from. The staff was very welcoming.”

What are your position(s) here as a newcomer?

“I’m the new government and economics teacher and an assistant coach for football”

What ignites your passion and encouraged you to have the job you have?

“My mother was a teacher and my dad was a teacher and coach, so I grew up wanting to be a teacher that would show interest and inspire others.”

What is your favorite part of the job on behalf of now being a member of the teaching/coaching staff of our school?

“Being there for the students.”

What encouraged you to make the decision to come to our school district?

“I first met Coach Hermesmeyer and he was very friendly and I loved Mr. Pierce’s enthusiasm. I felt that we had a connection and that it was a perfect match and that this is where I belong.”

Who do you want to become over the course of the year and what are your expectations for this year and hopefully many more years to come?

“A teacher who students respect and look up to. I hope for all students to graduate and do something great with their lives.”

Describe your ideal burrito!

“No beans, double meat, cheese, queso, tortilla strips, Spanish rice and salsa!”

Do you have any favorite recollections from your current experiences in either the weight room or on the football field from Two-A-Days?

“Honestly, the time went by so quickly. The first day I was a bit anxious and nervous, but I was ready for a fresh start.”

Last but not least, do you have any words of encouragement to your players for this season, what would you like for your message to say?

“If you make a mistake, don’t dwell on it; that’s how you get down and lose momentum. Instead, have a short memory, bounce back and win the next play.”

Coach Elliott is doing a great job so far! He has already proven he is capable and intelligent. We’re hoping that he enjoys this year at Comanche High School and will become a fixture around here!
