The ag mechanics team consisting of juniors Wyatt Welch, Frank Moerman and Billy Scheller recently competed with their project at the Houston Livestock Ag Mechanics show, winning sixth place in the farm equipment division.

The team worked for more than three months to complete their project, a heavy duty scraper built for Triple X Dairy owner Wayne Moerman.

“I learned a lot from the project,” Frank Moerman said. “It was really nice being able to help my dad save money and help out the company.”

The team spent many late nights at the ag barn putting the finishing touches on and were worried that they might not finish in time to get the project to Houston before the deadline.

“I wish we would have started a bit earlier,” Scheller said. “But in the end it all worked out and I was glad that we did well with the scraper.”

The scraper project will compete in two more ag mechanics shows, before it will go out to Triple X Dairy to be put to its intended use.
