The varsity softball team competed in a home game against Brady on Tuesday,  March 28 in which the Maidens easily took control from the start of the game, winning by ten.

Junior Ashley Jones led the Maiden’s offense going three for three in batting with one double, as well as three RBI’s.

“Following our loss with Bangs, we really had a reason to come out and compete,” Jones said. “Us Maidens and coach Pettit herself were on the hunt for a win and that’s exactly what we got. Our batting has really improved and which has helped us win in previous games and I hope that will propel us to continue winning in upcoming games.”

Senior Gabby Sanchez went 2-2 in batting, and also had three RBI’s and three runs. Sanchez has been playing softball her whole life and knows what it takes to play post-district ball.

“Being a senior, I really hope to continue playing well and go a good ways in the playoffs,” Sanchez said. “This is probably the best our softball program has been since 2013 when we went to the state tournament. During the Brady game, I could definitely see that we have made improvements both offensively and defensively which is a very good sign. I’m excited to see what the rest of the season holds.”
