The varsity softball team competed against Coleman in an away game on Friday, April 1. With a final inning sweep, the Maidens came out with a two point win.

Freshman Vicki Lopez, a newcomer to varsity softball had the best batting percentage, going four for four with two runs.

“All I can think to say about this game is that we played until the bitter end,” Lopez said. “At the beginning of the game, I was a little nervous because we were playing pretty close to the other team, as is evident by the score. In many of the previous games, we had easily taken control of the score board, but this was a different story. In the last two innings we picked it up and came out with a win.”

Junior Jilian Hufstutler went three for four in batting, with two singles, and three RBI’s.

“Coleman was a good matchup for us,” Hufstutler said. “We hadn’t been around too many close games since district started, but this game was definitely different. Our offense in the last inning is for sure what saved us from losing the game. Our batting has been solid as well as a saving grace this year. We have plenty of strong arms that will help us against upcoming teams.”
