The CHS band recently competed at the all-region band tryouts on Dec. 1.

Two students, senior Kristen Lasoya (clarinet) and junior Courtney Wright (Flute), qualified for area. Wright was first chair symphonic band.

“I was somewhat surprised to get first chair, but I had worked hard and knew after the audition I had done well,” Wright said.

Wright and Losoya will both move on to audition at the area competition in January in hopes of qualifying for the all-state band.

Other results for the regional competition are as follows:

Clarinet

Leeah Alapic – 12th chair Concert Band

Carly Rodriguez – 2nd alternate

Trumpet

Matthew Steele – 8th chair Concert Band

Trombone

Macey Keele – 4th chair Symphonic Band

Dexter Young – 5th chair Symphonic Band

Euphonium

Taylor Berends – 2nd chair Concert Band

“I am very pleased and proud of our results,” band director Brad Roberts said. “The students worked hard.  All of them improved on their results from last year.”
