The Indians will begin their 2018-2019 district campaign on the road against the Bangs Dragons Tuesday, Dec. 18. The team will be leaning on their two returning players seniors Kade Mercer and Zach Foster from a year ago to lead the team this season.

Kade returns as a two time District Defensive Player of the Year selection,” head coach Richard Pringle said. “He will continue to lead us defensively and he also will bring along a solid offensive game as well. Zach was a role player last season and will bring his leadership and his defensive skills to the team this year.”

Seniors Zach Rodriguez, Dev Bhakta, Alex Serrano and Price Odom will all be on the varsity for the first time this season, while sophomores Taelon Sorrells, Cash Cook and Bryce Hermesmeyer will play guard.

Posts will include juniors Kasey Middleton, Ryan Stephens, and Ricardo Sanchez.

“We have more size inside than we have had the last few years, so we will rely on this to help us out defensively and to hopefully get us points in the paint area,” Pringle said.

The Indians will face Dublin, Hamilton, Coleman, Eastland, Cisco, Early, and Bangs in district play.

“The new district will be a tough one for sure,” Pringle said. “Dublin returns as district champs and Cisco may end up being the team to beat for the title. They return a lot of veteran players with a lot of athletes. With an eight-team district it will be a battle each and every game, so we are looking forward to the challenge. I am looking forward to coaching these young men.”
