The Maidens began district play with a 25-70 loss at Hamilton on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

The Maidens started off well and had a lead after the end of the first quarter. But turnovers and missed free-throws cost the team the game.

Leading scorer was senior guard Madelynn Welch with seven points.

“We started the game off very well, but the momentum shifted at the end of the first quarter and we became shaken,” Welch said. “Even though we started [district] off with a loss, we still feel good about our chances this season.”

Defensively, junior forward Macey Brawley had five rebounds and added two on offense.

The Maidens will take on Cisco at home on Friday, Dec. 14.
