Powerlifting team attends Dublin meet

The CHS powerlifting team attended its first meet of the season at Dublin on January 19.

Senior Kendel Beck won 1st in the 242 weight class with a total of 1450 pounds.

“I felt good with the numbers I hit,” Beck said. “I definitely plan on improving towards a 1600 pound total.”

Junior Jeron Conine (275 weight class) and sophomore Juan Hernandez (123 weight class) both placed 3rd at the meet.

“I am happy with my overall performance at this meet,” Conine said. “I left off where I was last year and I am looking to keep on improving.”

The boys team tied for third place with 20 points.

On the girls side, sophomore Emily Guerrero (148 weight class) placed 4th with a total of 645 pounds.

The powerlifting team will host their next meet at the Comanche gym on January 26.

Jack Northridge placed 4th, Omero Arredondo placed 4th, Yancy Perkins placed 5th, Aaron Suniga placed 4th, Steve Davis placed 8th, CJ Ruggles placed 13th, Miguel Leos placed 10th, and Alliyah Rios placed 14th.
