The Maidens softball team sits at 5-5 in pre-season play and will begin district on March 5 on the road at Hamilton.

New head coach Scott Freeman will take the reins this year.

The team will also be led by starting pitchers junior Chloe Williams and sophomore Alize Lopez along with relief pitcher and designated hitter senior Kenna Hall.

“I’ve improved since last year, but I still have improvement to do,” Williams said. “Coach is disciplined and he expects our best everyday.”

Other key varsity players will include junior center fielder Danielle Wendt, junior third baseman Vicki Lopez, sophomore second baseman Lynzie Day, junior catcher Landrie Day and short stop Alize Lopez.

Joining the varsity team this year will be newcomers freshman first baseman Reagan Harms, sophomore left fielder Summer Furlong, and junior right fielders Carly Rodriguez and Kassandra Torres.

The team is hoping to repeat as district champs in 2019.

I expect the season to go well,” Coach Freeman said. “I believe if we can come together, this can be a great year.”
