The Indians faced the Hawley Bearcats at home on Mar. 5, winning 12-5.

Senior Trendon Morin started the game on the mound for the Indians and pitched five complete innings.

“We played really well as a team,” Morin said. “Our defense was on point and we had minimal errors which helped to secure the win.”

Junior Jeron Conine closed the sixth and seventh innings. Together he and Morin allowed eight walks, eight hits, and four earned runs and struck out eight.

“Trendon did a great job and shut down the Bearcats, so I could close for him,” Conine said.

Freshman Hudson Welch went 4- for 4 with four RBI’s and a sacrifice bunt to advance freshman Luke Wilson into scoring position along with a stolen base.

“Their pitchers were throwing balls  and we could square up; I was able to see the ball and time it really well,” Welch said.

The Indians will play in Bangs Mar. 12 for their first district game.

“Our chemistry wasn’t great in the beginning of the season due to many of the players being so young and new to the team,” senior Alex Davalos said. “I feel really confident that we can do well in district.”

Other notable stats:

Luke Wilson 1- for-2, 2 RBI’s, 3 BB, 1 SB; Trendon Morin 3- for-4, 1 SB, 1 BB; Jeron Conine 2- for-4, 4 RBI’s
