Tennis teams compete in Santa Anna Tournament

The Indians and Maidens traveled to Brownwood on Mar. 22 to compete in the Santa Anna Invitational Tournament.

More than 30 teams and 100 individuals competed at this meet. 

“I was happy with the way everyone competed and I am proud of the effort they displayed,” head tennis Coach Diana Salinas said.

Top performers from the meet were Zach Rodriguez in boys’ singles, Celia Suarez and Elizabeth Hancock in girls doubles (4th place) , and Ely Padilla and Kylie Garner in mixed doubles (4th place).

“I feel like there is a lot I can still fix because I know I have not reached my full potential yet,” Rodriguez said.

The two  fourth place finishes by the girls’ doubles team and the mixed doubles team comes against competition from the 1A level all the way up the 5A level.

“I was excited to be able to compete against tough competition and come out with a good finish,” Suarez said.

Sharon Victoria was another notable performer an the varsity level; she won one of her two matches in girls’ singles.

“I had a good time competing and am looking forward to the next meet,” Victoria said.

The Indians and Maidens will travel to Early to compete in the District 6-3A Division II Tennis competition Tuesday and Wednesday.
