Maidens earn two more district wins against Coleman, Eastland

The Maidens earned two more district wins against Coleman and Eastland.

The Maidens went on the road and defeated the Coleman Bluekatts on Mar. 19, 7-1.

Junior Chloe Williams took the mound for the Maidens against Coleman. She had eight strikeouts, walked two, and allowed zero runs.

“[The team has] been working hard everyday in practice and giving everything we have every game,” Williams said. “If  we continue to fight until the end and never let up, we will continue to win.”

Sophomores Lynzie Day and Alize Lopez led the Maiden with two hits each.

The Maidens were able to steal nine bases.

The Maidens traveled to Eastland on Mar. 22 and defeated the Mavericks, 2-1.

Williams pitched the entire game striking out 15 and walking one and led the Maidens in hits, going 2-for-3.

Junior Carly Rodriguez had a big game defensively and had the game winning out for the Maidens.

“It was an intense game,“ Rodriguez said. “ We knew one of us was going to have to make the play to prevent the opposing team from scoring and remain the top seed in the district. When the play presented itself, it was my job to make it.”
