The golf teams recently competed in the Early Tournament. The boys’ team came in third place and the girls’ team placed second overall.

The boys scored a team total of 348, two places behind Brownwood High School who finished with a total of 325.

Junior Kasey Middleton was the top individual scorer for CHS and placed third in the tournament with a 72.

Middleton was tied for first with the 72, but ended up in third after the tie breaker.

“The guy who beat me from Brownwood had an amazing shot to hole-in from the bunker,” Middleton said. “While you never like to lose a tie breaker, you don’t feel as bad when you get beat by someone who makes an amazing shot.”

Other individual scores included Jaret Pate (89), Thomas Ramirez (93), Dev Bhakta (94), and Jaton Pate (99).

While none of the girls placed individually the team did place second with a total of 506, behind Brownwood’s 412.

Individual scores for the girls were Alliyah Rios (130), Kenzey Brawley (135), Aevrie Seegmiller (140), Chayse Wilson (141), and Emily Hughitt (146).

The golf teams will soon compete in the district competition and The Smoke Signal will have those results at a latter date.
