The golf teams traveled to Lakeside Golf course in Eastland on Apr. 3 for the first round of the district 6-AAA tournament.

Junior, and former state champion, Kasey Middleton shot a four-under par 67 and currently holds first place at the end of round one. Jake Angerstein of Early trails Middleton by 11 shots for second place.

“I have been trying to improve small aspects of my game in each tournament,” Middleton said. “This [round 1] was the first time I have ever played bogey-free golf. No bogies, is something I have been working on, so I was very happy to play bogey-free at district.”

Middleton said his goal in round two will be to continue to decrease his score.

“I want to finish the tournament ten-under par,” he said. “I think I can do this if I continue to play well.”

The boys’ team which also consists of Jaret Pate, Jaton Pate, Dev Bhakta, and Thomas Ramirez currently sits in second place with a score 0f 333, trailing first place Eastland by 14 shots.

The girls’ team of Alliyah Rios, Aevrie Seegmiller, Chayse Wilson, Kenzey Brawley, and Emily Hughitt currently sits in third place behind teams from Eastland and Coleman.

The final round of the district 6-AAA tournament will be held on Apr. 10 at the Hideout Golf Course in Brownwood.
