Four students qualify for Regional Track

Four varsity track members qualified for the regional track meet to be held at Abilene Christian University on Friday, April 26.

Seniors Kendel Beck and Kristin Lasoya both placed third in shotput at the area track meet ensuring each a spot at the regional meet.

“I was really excited to be able to advance to regionals during my senior year,” Lasoya said. “It is a big accomplishment to advance.”

Seniors Kade Mercer and Zach Rodriguez both placed fourth; Mercer in long jump and Rodriguez in the 200 meters.

“This is my first year to advance past district,” Rodriguez said. “I am excited to compete at regionals for the first time.”

Mercer jumped 20 feet 2 and a half inches a new personal best, however he re injured his hamstring on his final attempt.

“Despite injuring myself I should be ready to go at regionals,” Mercer said. “If I rehab it, things should go good.”
