The Comanche Indians traveled down Highway 16 on Sep. 20 to DeLeon to play a huge rivalry game.  The Indians beat the Bearcats 33-0.

Junior Oscar Rios rushed for a total of 112 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns.

“I knew walking into that game that I had to do whatever it took to assist my teammates in winning this game,” Rios said. “It was a huge game for us and scoring those two touchdowns really boosted my team and myself.”

Running backs Luke Wilson and Logan Wilkerson combined for 69 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Junior quarterback Cash Cook threw for a total of 33 yards and connected with senior Colton Davis for one touchdown pass.

“It felt really good to score that touchdown,” Davis said. “We all knew walking into that game that we had to give our all and do whatever we had to to defeat our rivals.  My adrenaline was rushing and it was pretty hard to catch my breath.  I chest bumped Coach Herm and celebrated with the boys.”

The Indians totaled 223 yards and held the Bearcats to only three first downs.

Junior Matthew Gonzales had two sacks and caused one fumble.

“I knew on defense that I had to go after the quarterback,” Matthew said.  “I kept this mindset every time I went in and stripped the ball and had two sacks.  It felt pretty good to show the coaches everything I had.”

The Indians (2-2) will take on the Mason Punchers (2-2) on Friday at 7:30 pm for Homecoming.
