UIL Academic teams compete at Bangs

The UIL Academic teams traveled to the Bangs Invitational Meet on Sat., Jan. 18.

Junior Elizabeth Hancock placed first in the Feature Writing contest in her first ever meet.

Junior Elizabeth Hancock earned first place in Feature Writing at the UIL Academic Meet in Bangs

“This win really surprised me,” Hancock said. “I had not imagined to place first given this was my first time.”

The Math team of Matthew Martin, Suren Bhakta, and Rylee Deters placed second overall, while the Number Sense team consisting of Martin, Jaton Pate, Elizabeth Hancock, and Daniel Adame also brought home the silver medal.

Individually several other students placed:

EmmaLee Barnett, 3rd place Ready Writing

Vicki Lopez, 4th place Calculator

Jaton Pate, 5th Number Sense
