The varsity Indians split two games recently with a loss to Early, 25-51, and a win on the road against Hamilton, 43-31.

Junior guard Trent Odom led scoring with eight points against the Early.

“We showed up not one hundred percent ready to play, and thought it was going to be an easy win,” Odom said. “We might have underestimated the Longhorns.”

Other top-scores were Matthew Gonzales (8), John Gilliam (6),  Taelon Sorrells (5) and Hudson Welch (4).

Leading the offensive in the win against Hamilton were Odom (14), Justin Cuellar (11), Gonzales (7), and Cash Cook (5).

“Going into the game [against Hamilton], we thought it was going to be a pretty hard task to face, but we went out there an executed our game plan,” Cook said.

The Indians were without two players– junior Bryce Hermesmeyer to sickness and Welch to a foot injury. Hermesmeyer should return soon; Welch will have to sit out for now.

The Indians are currently 3-3 in district and play the Cisco Loboes at home Jan. 25.
