Boys’ team splits games to Bangs, Cisco

The varsity basketball split two games, with a win at Bangs, 65-35, and a loss to Cisco, 24-54.

Junior Trent Odom led the team offensively against Bangs with 22 points.
“I felt like we played hard,” Odom said. “We played with a lot of intensity.”

Others scoring points were Matthew Gonzalez (10), Justin Cuellar (9), Miguel Martinez (7), Bryce Hermesmeyer (6), Cash Cook (5), and Ryan Stephens (4).

Junior Taelon Sorrells scored four points in the win.

“The Bangs game was a big win for us,” Sorrells said. “The game gave us another chance for the playoffs.”

In the loss to Cisco, top scorers were Matthew Gonzalez (2), Cash Cook (2), Zeph Christian (3), Ryan Stephens (2), and Bryce Hermesmeyer (2).

“This was a big loss for us,” junior wing Cash Cook said. “Cisco is the best in the district.”

The Indians are currently 4-4 in district and will play Dublin Lions at home Jan. 31.
